What made you get Toby in the first place?

We have always really wanted a dog I feel like they make a house a home.

How did you choose Toby?

I had a Shih Tzu growing up as I’m allergic to most animals my parents got me a Shih Tzu as they are hypo allergenic and I absolutely love the breed. They are honestly so sassy but so so loving so we decided that’s the breed we definitely wanted

What is the most rewarding thing you have found about owning a pet?

They bring so much joy just seeing them happy and playing is amazing, he is our little fur baby haha.

Have you encountered any problems (illnesses, behavioural, social) with your pet?

Yes sadly we have, toby collapsed a couple of months ago in our house it was the worst experience of our life. Our vet wasn’t very hopeful for toby but he pulled through and is happy and healthy now. The vets thought he had something wrong with his liver so he had many vet visits and had to have lots of tests at the specialist animal hospital, but thankfully they think he may have just eaten something he shouldn’t have. Scratch & Patch were amazing the whole way through and payed us out in full.

What is your top tip for people thinking about adding a pet to their family?

I would say research the breed, find one that fits in with your lives. Another tip is definitely go for it! Getting Toby is the best thing we have ever done he brings so much happiness to our lives.

Do you have any funny stories to share with us about Toby?

Toby is such a character; he makes us laugh all the time. He has this thing about jumping too early to get on the couch and up curbs. There have been many curb slides and face plants to the couch he just won’t learn, bless him. He is also absolutely obsessed with dog sausages and will literally do anything for them. We cant even say the letter S without him being right in your face haha. He makes us laugh a lot with his funny little ways.
